You’ve got the Magic – a song by Robin Nielsen

April 15, 2016 By Trudy Scott 1 Comment

youve-got-magic-robin

My dear friend and Certified Clinical Nutritionist, Robin Nielsen wrote and sings this inspiring and uplifting song – it’s just beautiful and so much fun! She shares:

This song and music video is for you. Inspired by Tina Maze, the beautiful 2014 Winter Olympic Gold Medalist who made a music video about her journey to Gold, Marianne Williamson’s poem “Our Deepest Fear”, and all of my beautiful clients over the years, I wrote this delicious song with my sons, Nick and Duncan Nielsen to inspire women to tap back into their own magic, and shine no matter what their age.

Robin has helped “thousands of women of all ages regain their health and get the twinkle back in their eyes” and she has a lovely message for us:

“You’ve Got the Magic” was written and produced for all of us. It’s time to ask for what we want and discover the beautiful goddess within. Enjoy this fabulous life no matter what, and let your inner light shine bright as an inspiration to everyone. I invite you to rekindle your magic and open all the “love letters” that come your way everyday.

Wishing you joy, grace, beauty and lots of pleasure. Please share with every beautiful woman you know.

Enjoy the uplifting song and the really fun video! I keep watching it and smile the whole way through. I’m also so in awe of someone being able to sing and produce a song and video like this! Wow!

We have been friends since I first became a nutritionist and met when we both volunteered to do speaker support at the National Association of Nutrition Professionals /NANP (www.nanp.org) conference. We were later invited to serve on the board of directors and Robin went on the become President of the board, while I served as VP (and later as President).

During production of the video, Robin reached out to her friends and colleagues asking for a short video clip of us having fun and enjoying life. I sent in a clip and I’m actually featured in the video. How fun! See if you can spot me!?

You can get the song on iTunes or Amazon and grab the lyrics here.

The Anxiety Summit: Sleep Your Way to Better Moods

June 19, 2014 By Trudy Scott 9 Comments

robin nielsen 1 the anxiety summit

This is day 12 of the Anxiety Summit. Robin Nielsen, Certified Nutrition Consultant and co-creator of Sexy Younger You, is interviewed by host of the Anxiety Summit, Trudy Scott, Food Mood Expert and Nutritionist, author of The Antianxiety Food Solution.

Everyone needs sleep! The CDC /Centers for Disease control says “Insufficient Sleep Is a Public Health Epidemic” According to data from the National Health Interview Survey, nearly 30% of adults reported an average of ?6 hours of sleep and only 31% of high school students reported getting at least 8 hours of sleep on an average school night. How do you feel when you don’t get enough sleep – other than awful…irritable, anxious, depressed and you very likely gravitate to sugar and caffeine to keep you going – which is only going to make things worse!

Research published just last month in the journal Pediatrics suggest that poor sleep in children under age 7 can lead to weight problems later on in life and can also affect their emotional health leading to more anxiety and depression.

Robin shares how you can …

Sleep Your Way to Better Moods

  • Learn why restorative sleep is the key to being happier
  • How anxiety and poor sleep are connected: sugar, blood sugar, caffeine, gluten
  • What sleep has to do with brain chemistry and hormones
  • How you can feel so much better when you get restorative sleep

Here are some great gems from my interview with Robin:

restorative sleep means sleep without medication

sleep helps to keep us beautiful as we age

insomnia can really be caused by just about anything and things that we would never guess

if you have a busy day, you’re going to have a busy night

chronic infections are constant stressor (and can affect your sleep)

hypothyroidism can cause sleep apnea

if you’re exercising improperly it’s going to raise your stress hormones and it’s going to affect your sleep and anxiety

We certainly did cover all the causes of insomnia and there are a lot of them.

Robin also shared that one of her favorite books is Lights Out: Sleep, Sugar, and Survival by T.S. Wiley.

Robin is so funny…she starts out by saying talking about sleep is not sexy and then ends with a sexy bombshell about oxytocin that left me speechless! Be warned!

Get your free gift from Robin Nielsen. She has a great Sleep Quiz, Checklist and Journal for you.

The S3xy Younger You series

October 3, 2012 By Trudy Scott 4 Comments

I’m loving the SYY series hosted by Robin Nielsen, NC, and Dr. Anna Cabeca. I’m getting gems from everyone!

Do you want to learn from 25 leading health and relationship experts (including yours truly!) who will teach you how to reclaim a healthier, more vibrant and s3xy you—at any age!

Do you jump out of bed with tons of energy and feel on top of the world every single day? Or are you starting to feel your age? Creaky? Aches and pains? More tired and less vibrant? Blah? More stressed and anxious? Have hormonal imbalances? Are moody? If you answered yes to any of these, then you must join us!

Here are a few gems from some of the speakers I’ve heard so far:

Liz Lipski, author of Digestive Wellness, spoke on the importance of digestive health and she said “Food is the most intimate contact we have with our external environment”. She also talked about the digestive benefits of eating umbeloshi plums and how they help increase low stomach acid.

Jonny Bowden, the Rogue Nutritionist and author of The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth, talked about our need for good quality supplements. He said “we don’t NEED indoor plumbing and do we want minimum-wage health or optimal health?” Jonny had a lot of good stuff to say about heart disease and cholesterol. “If you are taking statin medications, add CoQ10 right away!” and that “red yeast rice must also be taken with CoQ10.” But he ended by saying “I don’t think lowering cholesterol is important, rather worry about inflammation”. I’m so on board with this approach.

Leanne Ely said “Cooking a meal for someone is an act of love”. She shared great information on the dangers of GMOs. She also talked about her very affordable hard clay water filtration system that makes pond water potable. It’s called the Berkefeld, was created during World War II and lasts years and years! I’m definitely going to look into this one!

Dr. Alan Christianson is author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Thyroid Disease and his interview about thyroid health was so informative! Something that I found so interesting was this: if you have an underactive thyroid, too much thyroid support can actually lead to worse symptoms. There is a delicate balance for you to feel ideal.

There are still many great speakers yet to come so please do join us. The best part is this – if you listen live (or listen to the 24 hour replays) there’s no cost to attend. If you’d like to purchase recordings or transcripts, you have this option too.

It’s happening right here, on your computer or telephone. And you can participate from anywhere in the world.

This series is top-quality cutting-edge health advice from amazing practitioners and everyone needs to hear this information! I am thrilled and honored that Robin and Dr Anna have asked me to be one of their 25 expert speakers. I’ll be sharing how to overcome midlife anxiety with a nutritional and lifestyle approach – so you can say goodbye to anxiety, stress, overwhelm, panic attacks, mood swings, depression and sugar cravings.
