TouchPoints™ neuroscience device for stress relief, improved sleep and focus and reduced cravings

June 30, 2017 By Trudy Scott 20 Comments

TouchPoints™ basic are non-invasive neuroscientific lifestyle wearables that use patent pending neuroscience to relieve stress, improve sleep, performance, and focus, and can reduce cravings and anger.

I shared some information about these TouchPoints™ neuroscience devices a short time ago and it created some interest. This week I was just on a private call with one of the founders, Dr. Amy Serin and I’m so impressed with what I learned about these EMDR-type devices that I’m sharing their indiegogo campaign (happening right now) for the new lower price point device (the basic). The Basic device doesn’t use an iphone or ipad. I am somewhat concerned about EMFs with their other device and I’m still looking into this to determine if it is an issue.

This Basic device can be worn on a wrist-band or can be worn on a belt, socks, shirt etc.

I have NOT yet used one of these devices myself or with clients but I have purchased one to test and will share more as I learn more. Please do share your experiences too!

As with addressing any imbalance too much of something can be problematic. I received this feedback from a colleague who is a psychotherapist:

We use bilateral stimulation in our work with various gadgets – bilateral music with headphones, bilateral tappers etc. It’s been used with EMDR for 20 years. I haven’t seen this gadget before but the idea is not new. It can also be TOO activating and increase sympathetic arousal for some people.

If they work you I do see these as a great add-on to the nutrition work I do for anxiety (diet, adrenals, amino acids like GABA etc.) and could be especially helpful if you can’t tolerate supplements right now (like during a benzodiazepine taper or being highly sensitive).

You can find all the details here

Hi Trudy, I have not heard of these. Do you think they would work for general anxiety if you don’t know the cause? Would it help lower cortisol? I have tried yoga and the headphones with talking and music but found both too hard to settle down with!!! Just really curious. as ever, K

I don’t know much other than they use a similar mechanism that is used in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy) and is called bilateral stimulation. I’m gathering some links and will beef up the blog post with some additional information.

Regrading the price of the Touchpoints Basic – that is listed on the indiegogo page at the bottom (here is that link https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/alleviate-stress-in-30-secs-with-touchpoints-basic-autism/x/1158311?secret_perk_token=01445869#/)

Sue, what has your experience been with the TouchPoints? I can’t seem to find any feedback or study results other than what Touchpoint has posted and would love a non-biased review.

I’ll be picking up mine when I’m in the USA early November and will report back then. And yes when there is a new product being developed with crowd-funding there is often a delay

I now have a set and have yet to give them a proper trial so I can’t provide my personal feedback yet.

We have the Basic model for my daughter with special needs, no app or pad used. Wondering about EMF in these too. She wears them as watches for several hours about 4 times a week. They are directly on her wrists. She tried sleeping with them, but they were more of a distraction with the light, noise, and the vibration.

I have also found the vibration and noise to be distracting and wonder if you could have her try them on her ankles or at least use them only leading up to bedtime? Have you noticed any benefits when she is using them?

I am on the fence right now. I’ve tried them 3 x and am just not sure. But I am doing a gut detox SIBO protocol right now so want to try again when things are more typical.

I’ve had a family member try them and they think it helps with focus but the buzzing became irritating. I have found that using them on the bottom of my shorts is less irritating that using them on a sleeve or collar

OK, thanks, I was looking for stats from a study using them or a webpage with objective scientific facts about the EMF’s in them.
