We chatted about\u00a0<strong>some unique and delicious foods<\/strong>\u00a0that can improve your mood\u2026like help\u00a0<strong>reduce anxiety, depression, irritability and anger<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Foods to Improve Your Mood<br \/>\nWednesday, September 7 at 7:40am PST<br \/>\nYou can watch the segment\u00a0here<\/p>\n<p>Just like my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/food-mood-good-day-sacramento-eggs-ok\/\" target=\"_blank\">Good Day Sacramento interview<\/a>, there is a really funny comment by the anchor at the end \u2013 about my \u201clovely\u201d accent! Too funny!<\/p>\n<p>And here is what we discussed \u2013 watch the video and read all about it!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">[youtube \u00a0width=425 height=349]http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XBG7dgP0U_M[\/youtube]\n<p><strong>Can foods really affect our moods<\/strong>\u00a0and help reduce a anxiety, depression, irritability and anger?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We often don\u2019t think that foods can affect us mentally but there is\u00a0<strong>much recent research about real quality food and improved mental health<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>And it\u2019s the\u00a0<strong>synergistic effects of all the nutrients<\/strong>\u00a0in real food that is so great!<\/li>\n<li>So we want to\u00a0<strong>eat real whole foods instead of processed foods<\/strong>, junk foods and sugary foods \u2013 and\u00a0<strong>eat how our grandparents ate<\/strong>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Can eating\u00a0<strong>sardines<\/strong>\u00a0really help with depression?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They are\u00a0<strong>affordable and are a clean fish<\/strong>\u00a0(ie less toxins because of their small size)\u00a0 and they are a\u00a0<strong>great source of omega 3s, vitamin D and protein<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 all of which help with depression<\/li>\n<li>In fact, there is less depression is countries that consume more seafood!<\/li>\n<li>They are\u00a0<strong>super right out of the can<\/strong>\u00a0or with a salad.\u00a0 I like to take cans with me when I travel \u2013 great emergency food. Check out more on my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/fly-healthy-and-be-happy-part-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">travel tips<\/a>\u00a0article<\/li>\n<li>And yes, salmon is a good option too, as is grass-fed red meat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How do\u00a0<strong>pumpkin seeds<\/strong>\u00a0help with anxiety?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They contain both zinc &amp; tryptophan, both of which help with anxiety<\/li>\n<li>In a recent study, a functional food made primarily of pumpkin seeds helped with social anxiety<\/li>\n<li>They are one of my favorite healthy snacks \u2013 lightly roasted with olive oil, sea salt, pepper, ginger and turmeric<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Can\u00a0<strong>coconut milk<\/strong>\u00a0help with irritability and anger?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coconut milk and oil are\u00a0<strong>good fats<\/strong>\u00a0and helps\u00a0<strong>keep your blood sugar stable<\/strong>\u00a0preventing blood sugar swings and the resulting\u00a0<strong>irritability and anger<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They are yummy in a\u00a0<strong>smoothie or stir-fry<\/strong>\u00a0or just eaten as is<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What about\u00a0<strong>sauerkraut<\/strong>\u00a0for anxiety and depression?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sauerkraut is fermented cabbage and like yogurt it contains\u00a0<strong>probiotics or beneficial bacteria\u00a0<\/strong>which are\u00a0<strong>great for our digestion and both anxiety and depression<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Make sure to buy\u00a0<strong>raw sauerkraut<\/strong>\u00a0or make it yourself!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eat like this and you\u2019ll feel on top of the world!
