{"id":38,"date":"2010-02-23T13:05:53","date_gmt":"2010-02-23T08:35:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/everywomanover29.wordpress.com\/?p=38"},"modified":"2010-02-23T13:05:53","modified_gmt":"2010-02-23T08:35:53","slug":"fly-healthy-and-be-happy-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/fly-healthy-and-be-happy-part-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Fly healthy and be happy, part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Get into <strong>fly-healthy mode<\/strong> before you leave on a trip and be prepared so you can stay healthy while you\u2019re actually flying \u2013 and have a fun and happy trip.\u00a0 Part 2 will cover what to pack and take with you to stay healthy while you\u2019re away and how best to eat while you\u2019re there.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to do before you leave &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t leave things to the last minute \u2013 famous last words I know! \u2013 but it\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0important to <strong>be well-rested<\/strong> and not all stressed out<\/li>\n<li>Eat plenty of<strong> immune boosting foods like onions and garlic<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Include <strong>a few servings of miso<\/strong>,   a fermented soy paste that is <strong>very protective against radiation <\/strong>(flying exposes us to a fair amount of radiation).\u00a0 You don\u2019t want to boil miso,   so add a tablespoon to a cooked stew or soup,   or home-made salad dressing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What to do on the trip &#8211; <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep hydrated by drinking <strong>plenty of water &#8211; s<\/strong>kip the coffee as it\u2019s dehydrating<\/li>\n<li>Take \u201cpadkos\u201d (South African slang for \u201cfood for the road\u201d) \u2013 some <strong>fruit, nuts and seeds, a boiled egg, grass-fed beef jerky<\/strong> and even a packed lunch<\/li>\n<li>For <strong>mild motion-sickness<\/strong> <strong>ginger tea <\/strong>or<strong> crystallized ginger<\/strong> works<\/li>\n<li>For bad motion-sickness <strong>acupressure wrist bands<\/strong> will do the trick (they\u2019re great for the car and boat trips too)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nasal spay with xylitol<\/strong> will keep those recirculating airborne germs at bay\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wash your hands\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Have a safe trip!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/eggs1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-44\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/eggs1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"124\" height=\"108\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Get into fly-healthy mode before you leave on a trip and be prepared so you can stay healthy while you\u2019re actually flying \u2013 and have a fun and happy trip.\u00a0 Part 2 will cover what to pack and take with you to stay healthy while you\u2019re away and how best to eat while you\u2019re there.\u00a0 [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[12,1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-38","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-general-health","category-uncategorized","entry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
