{"id":1615,"date":"2013-10-22T20:24:55","date_gmt":"2013-10-23T03:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/?p=1615"},"modified":"2013-10-31T12:12:26","modified_gmt":"2013-10-31T19:12:26","slug":"quiet-introverts-on-the-job-pyroluria-low-blood-sugar-gluten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/quiet-introverts-on-the-job-pyroluria-low-blood-sugar-gluten\/","title":{"rendered":"Quiet: introverts on the job &#8211; pyroluria, low blood sugar, gluten?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent blog post I discussed a <a title=\"ew029\" href=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/anxious-introvert-because-of-low-zinc-and-vitamin-b6\/\" target=\"_blank\">possible connection between introversion and pyroluria<\/a>, especially if you also have social anxiety, inner tension and a preference for interacting with a few people rather than a crowd.<\/p>\n<p>This nice infographic gives us some of the useful facts and stats:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>introverts make better one-on-one connections<\/li>\n<li>introverts sometimes experience anxiety when speaking to large groups of people<\/li>\n<li>introverts are prone to social anxiety disorder<\/li>\n<li>the percentage of introverts in the U.S. is about 50%<\/li>\n<li>the percentage of people in the U.S. who are estimated to have social anxiety disorder is 7%-8%<\/li>\n<li>the percentage of adults in the U.S. who are estimated to have an anxiety disorder is 18% [I added this one]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I like that this infographic is suggesting more comfortable work environments and jobs that may suit introverts better.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BUT &#8230;and this is a BIG BUT&#8230;.I feel we can do better if you are one of those introverts who still feel anxious or nervous despite all the tips and tricks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important for you to also address some of the possible biochemical and nutritional imbalances:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"blood sugar\" href=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/glutamine-for-low-blood-sugar-and-calming-effects\/\" target=\"_blank\">low blood sugar can make you feel anxious<\/a>, irritable and depressed &#8211; eating protein at breakfast helps so much<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"pyroluria\" href=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/pyroluria-questionnaire-from-the-antianxiety-food-solution\/\" target=\"_blank\">pyroluria can cause social anxiety and inner tension<\/a>, especially in crowds and when under more stress &#8211; zinc and vitamin B6 can make a world of difference<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"gluten\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.psychcentral.com\/therapy-soup\/2012\/11\/the-gluten-mood-connection\/\" target=\"_blank\">gluten intolerance can cause anxiety and depression <\/a>and can lead to nutritional deficiencies &#8211; do an elimination and challenge<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"blood sugar\" href=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/blog\/amino-acids-mood-questionnaire-from-the-antianxiety-food-solution\/\" target=\"_blank\">low GABA or low serotonin<\/a> can lead to physical tension\/anxiety and worry\/anxiety in the head &#8211; consider a trial of GABA or tryptophan supplements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is just a few factors that may be contributing to your anxiety.\u00a0 I encourage you to investigate and address ALL the possible causes of your anxiety and\/or social anxiety.\u00a0 You don&#8217;t have to live with it, tolerate it and force or &#8220;extrovert&#8221; (a new verb!) yourself in social settings.\u00a0 You can feel comfortable, relaxed, calm and be a &#8220;Social Butterfly&#8221; &#8211; really!<\/p>\n<p>Do also check out my book for in-depth protocols and research:\u00a0 <a title=\"store\" href=\"https:\/\/www.everywomanover29.com\/store\/\" target=\"_blank\"><i id=\"yui_3_13_0_rc_1_1_1382473220319_161125\">The Antianxiety Food Solution: How the Foods You Eat Can Help You Calm Your Anxious Mind, Improve Your Mood, and End Cravings (New Harbinger, 2011).<\/i> <\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestmastersprograms.org\/quiet\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Quiet: Introverts on the Job\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bestmastersprograms.org\/quiet\/introverts.jpg\" width=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestmastersprograms.org\">BestMastersPrograms.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent blog post I discussed a possible connection between introversion and pyroluria, especially if you also have social anxiety, inner tension and a preference for interacting with a few people rather than a crowd.
